Corridor Digital is a production studio in California based in Los Angeles. They produced video content for YouTube and their own website. They have even made a series for YouTube Red (YouTube Premium now) called Lifeline (Spangler,T). I could not find their employment numbers, but I watch their most recent Christmas video to see how many people were in the video. They seemed to employ about 13 individuals (Corridor).
Interest
I am interested in Corridor Digital due to them doing what I ideally want to do. They work on making their own original content for their revenue. The content they put is stuff I would love to do. I would have to learn how to work on VFX, but I would ideally want to join the crew as an editor/production crew for the daily videos that they put out on their website or YouTube. While I am doing that, I can learn how to do VFX so that I can eventually help out on that portion of production as well. Since they have a small crew, I think it is important to have skills in multiple parts of the production process so that I would be able to help at any point in the process to help meet deadlines on the videos.

Would it be possible for me to learn VFX here on the job or is that an activity to do after work hours?
Is there a difference between getting a video ready for YouTube and the company’s website or are they similar processes?
How much creative freeway do the individual employees around here have? Do we have the chance of creating our own content for the website/YouTube channel?

IGN is a website that talks about technology and entertainment today. It’s basically a site to get all your tech news. They do steer more towards the gaming and entertainment side of technology however. The release content over social media in print, videos, or graphics. They also have their own website they direct content to (Video Game).
Interest
I am interested in IGN because they cover something that I am passionate about which is cinema and gaming. They do reviews and cover any of the news that happen in the industry. I already follow and report on some these events for my own personal projects. I have done reviews for TMN as well for both movies and games. I enjoyed doing both and would be interested in doing that professionally.
Questions
How are news stories assigned? Do certain people get charged with just covering a certain company or product over a timespan? Is it first come, first served? Or are stories assigned?
Is work from home or remote location something that is staying in place after the pandemic is over or will employees be encouraged to return to an office space?
What is the expected turnaround time on a video or graphic?
Are there opportunities for promotions for all positions? Like can an video editor or graphic designer become a writer for the site as well?

Rogue Rocket is an up and coming news site that was started by YouTuber, Phillip DeFranco. DeFranco has a daily new show on YouTube called the Phillip Defranco Show. DeFranco started the new site, Rouge Rocket, as an evolution of the Phillip Defranco Show. Defranco said “We are a news and entertainment channel dedicated to getting the facts right first and presenting that information in a fair manner and only after that maybe sharing an opinion. Interest
I am interested in Rogue Rocket not because it is traditional media, but because it is an start up essentially. I think it would be fun to work at a place that is trying to find their place in the industry. I would take pride in working at Rogue Rocket knowing I was helping it find a place within the heavy hitters of the industry and deliver the best product possible.

Where do you Rogue Rocket being at in 5 years? Are there more options that are being explored to possibly put on the site?

Mythical is an entertainment studio that primarily posts their main content onto YouTube. Mythical is led by the Good Mythical Morning duo of Rhett & Link. Their main audience is their YouTube channel as they have 75 million subscribers with over 25 billion lifetime views. The main content that they do is podcasts, shows hosted by other members of their crew, and the Good Mythical Morning show (Mythical Entertainment).
Interest
Mythical Entertainment seems like one of those places where the work environment is very productive. Not saying that the other choices I put on this list don’t have good work environments, but for everything I have seen and heard about the Mythical workspace, it just sounds super enticing. I think it is super important for any job to have a good and stable work environment that pushed employees to perform their best in a healthy way and I am positive that Mythical Entertainment is one of those places.

What is the editing style of Good Mythical Morning? It seems to be very minimal editing and more of just putting in graphics and such.

I really like your question of “How much creative freeway do the individual employees around here have? Do we have the chance of creating our own content for the website/YouTube channel?” I like it because social media influencers typical are sponsored by companies. They promote products and brands via blog posts about travel to exotic destinations, makeup, movies, etc. But at the end of the day, the company (VFX) that you want to work for has to make a profit. I am pretty sure that they do market research to determine what sells and to whom, and taking consideration from a new employee might be placed on the back-burner for a while. Your other job prospects show that you have a passion for the technology and gaming. This knowledge is vital and you have the skill-sets to get hired by them all.
