Enersys is a global business that specializes in battery technology and production. Enersys has a branch located in Hays, but has 9000 employees from all over the world. Enersys makes batteries for many brands and has acquired various companies over the years. The company also has its foot in the door of other tech products such as renewable energy and security systems.
Why I am interested
I tried to keep my job search local, as I hope to stay here in Hays after school. Enersys has a branch in Hays that is currently searching for a systems analyst, and I thought that the job description sounded very appetizing. I have various contacts who work at Enersys who could possibly be good reference material as well. I hope that I would be able to work on their systems development and integration.
Interview Questions
What kinds of software do you use, how much of my work would be Information Systems, as that is my major and where I have the most experience?
Is there potential for work-at-home situations?
Would I strictly be tied to the Hays office or would there be traveling from office to office involved?
Could there be potential for a part-time internship while I finish out school and then after I graduate in the spring the position could possibly transition to full-time and I will have already gotten my foot in the door?

Fort Hays is located here in Hays and has been around for quite some time. FHSU is one of the cheapest four year college opportunities for students. FHSU has a great on campus as well as online program.
Why I am interested
I grew up here in Hays, both my parents work at Fort Hays, so I have been around the college my whole life. I have great connections here, some of which were previous employers, and I enjoy the community here. Fort Hays just transitioned to Workday and there are all kinds of issues and problems that could be solved with the system and it would be really neat to work with some of my professors and other contacts on the system.

Adams Brown is an accounting company that provides financial services to people mainly in western Kansas. Adams Brown has been around for 7 plus years and has expanded to 14 office locations with many employees. Adams Brown prioritizes the client as well as they can which they believe is the reason for their success.
Why I am interested
The main reasons that I am interested in this company is because they have a local office here in Hays and because I enjoy finance as well as IT. There is an opening in the Hays office for an IT specialist so it only seems fitting that I look into the opportunity.

Company Information
Hays Medical Center is the hospital here in Hays. It takes care of Hays as well as much of the surrounding area, particularly NW Kansas. Hays Medical Center employs about 1500 people and is currently part of the University of Kansas Health System.
Why I am interested
Health information systems always seem like such a hassle. Employees are always charting, patients are always filling out forms, it just never stops. Any way that I could automate more of the process or smooth out some kinks would make a lot of people’s lives significantly easier. I also am interested because it is a local opportunity for me and has lots of potential for growth. It would be a great first job.

Because the Hays Medical Center is a part of the University of Kansas Health System are the information systems Hays specific or KU Health System specific? Would I be working mostly with Hays employees or possibly other KU Health System employees?

Hey Sheldon, I particularly liked that you included Fort Hays State University as one of the potential employers. I would have liked to see more history surrounding the school like who found it etc. A quick google search led me to see it was founded in 1902 and it’s first leader was William S. Picken according to the school’s official website. You ask an important question about the possibility of an internship leading to a full time opportunity. Nowadays, Its important to get your foot in the door somehow and grow from there. What is also important is gaining a better understanding of the work environment so you know for sure it is somewhere you want to be in the future.
