The development of electric vehicles can be traced back to “Around 1832, [when] Robert Anderson develops the first crude electric vehicle.” Fast forward to the early 2000’s and a ambitious entrepreneur named Elon Musk was in the process of mainstreaming fully electric vehicles by creating his own EV manufacture called Tesla. In 2021, Tesla became the most valuable car manufacture while making Elon Musk one of the wealthiest men on earth.
I first learned about Tesla in the early 2010s after seeing them on the road. At the time, Tesla had a very unique, futuristic look not really seen in other automotive makers outside of the Germans. To this day, Tesla remains a very unique looking vehicle especially it’s Model Y series with it’s falcon doors. After researching the Tesla brand, I was very intrigued to learn about the benefits of using battery powered vehicles when it came to performance. There was an instance where a Tesla Model 3 “smoked” a 707 Horsepower Dodge Challenger in the quarter mile. After further breakdown, the rate at which torque was sent to the tired by the Model 3 compared to a supercharged 6.2L HEMI engine. It was truly astonishing.
I would categorize myself early majority simply because I’m not in the market for a new vehicle at the moment, however I’ve made up my mind about purchasing an EV in the future. I believe Electric Vehicle are the future because gas prices will continue to increase and CO2 Immersions need to be address. As someone who owns a Dodge Challenger, having the ability swap 60 plus dollar fill ups with minimal monthly electric bill increases is a transition that makes a lot of financial sense.
Another innovation I believe I can categorize myself as an early adopter in is the Internet Of Things “Smart Home” adoption. I have been transitioning my home into a smart home over the course of the last 3 years. In that time frame, I have purchased Smart bulbs, Hue lights, Smart Lock, Smart thermostat, Ring Doorbell, Smart TVs, Smart Garage Door Opener, Smart Plugs, AWS compatible Security System, Smart Vacuum and Smart Voice Assistants (Amazon Alexa).
While I am not an early pioneer, I believe I have implemented plenty of Smart features in my home in order to categorized as an early adopter. Having a smart home gives me a sense of control and peace of mind, especially when I’m not home. I believe as hardware begins to decrease in price, more people will begin to implement smart features in their homes. After all, technology was create to make our life easier.
