An innovation that has brought my attention over the years and which I believe will continue to have a positive outcome for the upcoming years is Telehealth Technology.
As we progress with new technical appilcations to make our lives easier and more convient for life situations if has also increased for individuals to get more into the technical side of society and which makes individuals be more active in participating with innovations. For example according to reaserch, “Today, 95 percent of Americans own cell phones and 77 percent own smartphones. These and other mobile devices can be leveraged to promote better health outcomes and increased access to care.” (Catalyst, 2018). The idea of having the doctors office all on your phone and not needing to leave your comfy bed is such a pleasing thing! It saves you money ongas, decreases exposure to covid, and you get to reach them while on the go which wont interfere with PTO.
- A. Stages of Adoption
- How did you learn about this new innovation? I have seen billboards of telehealth in the city. But now since we expierenced a pandemic I have been seeing different softwares of sort of telehealth all over. As this is quite a brilliant idea to minimize interaction with one another and if possible to get feedback, prescriptions, and/or diagnosis without the need of having to drive to the doctors office you could do through the comfort of your home.
- At what Stage of Adoption do you currently see yourself with this new innovation? I am on stage four which is the trial stage. As I have looked into, did my reasearch and tested it out myself. It is very convient as I am able to view my health and get information all virtually and not waiting for results to come through the mail. It is deffinitely less of a hassle.
- If you haven’t reached stage five, Confirmation, do you see yourself reaching that stage, and if so, why? If not, why might you discontinue the use of the innovation? I belive i am not to far away from stage five. As I have done little testr trials I believ this could be a new thing for me to save trips form going to the doctors offices for quick check ups.
- B. Adopter Categories
- If you have reached the Implementation or Confirmation stage, which adopter category do you see yourself in, Innovators, Early Adopters, Early Majority, Late Majority, or Laggards? Why? I would place myself in between “early majority” and “late majority” the reason being is because it honestly depends in how benecifial the innovation will be for me and if there is a cost for it, especially. I like to get feedback from people I know who will give honest opnions and not just things you want to hear, also do my own research about the pros and cons, and if it is a great investment.
- If you haven’t, consider a different technology that you have adopted. Which category were you in when you began to use that technology? Why? I was so quick in being an early adopter for the Apple Watch. As I am pretty active and enjoy hiking. I believed it is very convenient instead of carrying your phone with you and worrying that it will be lost or cracked.
- What are other examples of innovations where you would have fallen in a different category? Explain which category and what was the innovation? I would place myself as a laggar with the a dishwasher. I do not see myself ever seeing the need to use it nor learn how. I always thought washing your dishes by hands will do a better job than a machine.. Or maybe thats just my ocd talking.
