Everyday Information Systems

Hello everyone! My name is Sheldon Weber and I am a senior majoring in Information Systems. I am excited for this class as I hope to be able to connect my research directly to my degree and possible systems development opportunities in the future.

The topic that interests me that I would love to dive deeper into is the information systems that average Americans use on a regular basis. This could include recipe books, tracking mileage on vehicles to know when to change oil or rotate tires, organization of photos, etc. The list goes on and on. I would be curious to discover what other systems people might use if they were developed. Systems are used in business all the time, and running a properly functioning home is like running a business. What processes of the average American could we make more efficient and easier to use?

About sjweber2

Hello everyone! My name is Sheldon Weber, and I am a senior at FHSU this year. I am an Information Systems major. I am from here in Hays and I love it here so I saw no reason to leave for college. I bought a rental property that I am currently remodeling so when I am not working on school work I am usually there. I love both my degree and construction even though they have nothing to do with each other. I look forward to getting to know everyone better and getting into the classwork!

  1. Information systems will be in more industries than anyone will ever think in the next five years. You are right when you said that it makes everyday tasks much easier for the human population. Many people do not even think about how many information systems they use in their daily lives. Almost every industry already implements some sort of information system daily. Who knows what is to come in the near future relating to information systems and technology.

  2. Hey Sheldon, as you said, individuals have no idea how much and how heavily reliant they are on various information systems. We simply cannot go without utilizing one or the other. The main purpose of an information system is to collect, store, organize and distribute data. Imagine having to memorize or even write down everything as a means of data storage! The various information systems we use today drastically helps us to manage resources and improve efficiency. As technology continue to evolve daily, we will only see the increase in usage of different information systems.

Cool group name by the way and best of luck this semester!
