Technology and the Sewing Community: How is it evolving?

Hello all! This is a new experience for me, I’ve never taken a course that uses a blog site, nor have I ever created a blog. I have, however, read many blogs in regards to my hobby. I love sewing, I have been doing it since I was 3. I started out sewing by hand, making designs on paper towels. When I was 14 I got my first sewing machine and I have evolved from there! I sew quilts, apparel, and anything my littles request at this point. Due to my love for sewing and my IT background, I have decided to take on the research question of how technology is evolving the sewing community.

I know first hand how much I have grown to rely on technology within my sewing habits, and it’s crazy to think back to a time when I did everything by hand and I now rely on my 4 sewing machines. I want to tackle how technology has changed the machines that are used, how those within the community have taken to relying on technology in an effort to be more environmental friendly, and how technology could continue to evolve this very old school hobby that I love so much.

I look forward to seeing your opinions on my topic!

  1. Could be an interesting survey! When you begin researching, however, you will probably need to find similar studies on other hobbies to replicate. There may not be much to already find in your area, which would mean you’ll have to branch out wider to find things that could apply.
