Hi! My name is Natasha and I’m a senior at FHSU majoring in Information Networking and Telecommunications. I love data. No matter what we do in our everyday lives we encounter some form of data.
I’m a data analyst by profession and it always intrigues me when I watch others work with computers. Everyone has a different view of data. There are some people who get an instant headache when they have to figure out how to manipulate data into information. Others have instant connections to technology and are able to move around the computer like it’s second hand nature(us nerds lol). I would like to do my research on the different levels of comfort surrounding people and the use of technology and figure out the most easy and efficient ways to manipulate data so that EVERYONE(not just us nerds lol) feels comfortable using a computer or phone or any type of device that provides information.
Research and data go hand in hand so, for my team name, I’d like to suggest MOD which stands for Mind Over Data. Words and numbers are just words and numbers. It takes a brain or mind to find the meaning in those words and numbers and this can’t be accomplished without researching and putting together information. I’m excited to share my thoughts with you all and hope you like my idea!
Great ideas and good tagging!
I actually have heard that AI is being used to tailor an user interface based on someone’s needs. This means that for some if they require a bigger screen or enlarged text, then the user interface can adjust accordingly and change in order to conform to the user. I believe that having technology that can adapt based on the user’s needs is beneficial for everyone. There are some people who still struggle with complex user interfaces and get frustrated to the point they can give up on a new device entirely. By having this adaptable interface, it allows more than just nerds or computer savvy individuals to enjoy the full benefits of newer technology.
I agree with MOD (Mind Over Data) for the group name of Topic 7, and the abbreviation really fits. I prefer it over the one I came up with.
I think this is a very interesting idea for research! There are certainly different levels of comfort for everyone when it comes to using technology, especially when considering the area of data manipulation. Identifying and understanding different comfort levels to establish universal ways to manipulate data could be extremely useful. I look forward to seeing your research in this area.
I also like your group name suggestion of MOD (Mind over Data)!
Hello, Natasha
I know it’s significantly belated of me to reply only now to your post for the first week, although I severely misunderstood how the groups worked, and who we needed to reply to. I was also delayed in entering this course. Nevertheless, I am very intrigued to know what your career as a data analyst entails. This certainly sounds very interesting.
You are from the Bronx, NY? What brought you to FHSU? I assume you are currently living in New York?
I am looking forward to collaborating with you, and love your chosen name, “MOD, Mind Over Data.” I hope our group ends up using this.
Best
