About Ellinor (she/her)

I'm a deeply analytical and hyper fixated person. The numbers' game governs my way of life. I'm always paying attention to the clock and planning my day accordingly. With that said, I also have a converse need to allocate as much time out of my day to certain tasks as possible. Allocating only one hour for a project which takes an hour to complete has never been enough for me. Even if it means devoting 12 hours of my day to a project which takes eight hours, I always prefer to leave room for something. That could be a stress break, or it could be an intermission of a snack. Most often, however, it's for the hidden art of getting side-tracked. My attention span has never been my greatest asset, but I've never seen it as an inherently bad trait for my work ethic. For as long as I'm able to capitalize on my distractions, they can serve as an immense learning tool.

Perceptions of Transgender Representation in the Media: An Educational Framework

This research proposal explores the facets of transgender representation in traditional media to discuss the limitations of its often-narrow framework.  Media portrayals of transgender people have commonly been ripe with stereotypes.  Otherwise, proper and educational transgender media is almost exclusively nontraditional online content.  This includes the notion that transgender people are sexually deviant, as well … Continue reading Perceptions of Transgender Representation in the Media: An Educational Framework

Proposing Portrayals of Transgender People

Despite the recent makeup of political headlines, transgender and gender nonconforming people lack an in-depth baseline of research (Jacobs, L., & Meeusen, C., 2021).  Literature on the subject usually covers their current rate of social acceptance or lack thereof (Hetzel, C. J., & Mann, K., 2021).  The process one must undertake to accept transgender people, … Continue reading Proposing Portrayals of Transgender People

Finishing the Quest for Information on Representation

I personally believe that I’ve used every search term of any worth for my topic of interest. I wanted to see more on the topic of ageism as a priority for today, but as you’ll soon come to realize, that’s easier said than done.  Any new info is still useful either way. Despite the pursuit … Continue reading Finishing the Quest for Information on Representation

The Deeper Details of Data Collection – Question 62 & 63 Presentation

In this presentation, I cover the steps to fleshing out data collection with more vigorous research methods.  The discussion includes nonrandom sampling in Quasi-experimental Designs, focusing on variables (blocking or otherwise), and regular recording intervals. This section introduces topics such as Longitudinal Analysis, in which one group/individual is recorded periodically.  It also covers Cross-sectional Analysis–a … Continue reading The Deeper Details of Data Collection – Question 62 & 63 Presentation

Narrowing my Transgender Subjects and Citations

Citation Tracing I began my search from the content I discovered in the Week 11 Blog Post in order to build upon my already existing topics.  In particular, I wanted to solidify quantitative data for transgender prevalence in the United States (Meerwijk, E. L., & Sevelius, J. M., 2017).  Consequently, my citation trace was within … Continue reading Narrowing my Transgender Subjects and Citations

Defining and Refining Ageism and Transgender Representation

My research process went through a similar series of hoops compared to last time.  I already have quite a bit of experience doing in-depth research, so I’m well-versed with manipulating Boolean terms.  The challenge from this round of searching stemmed from needing to diversify my sources.  I made a special effort to focus on terms … Continue reading Defining and Refining Ageism and Transgender Representation

Findings on Ageism and Transgender Representation in the Media

My searches involved a lot of rearranging.  I wasn’t confident in the scope of my original databases to begin with, so for the sake of more advanced research, great lengths will need to be made to narrow down hubs of information.  Until then, my best technique involves chaining together citations from a broad search until … Continue reading Findings on Ageism and Transgender Representation in the Media

Ageism in Transgender Representation

When considering options for my transgender-oriented research proposal, I had countless angles to choose from.  The medical process of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is a untapped treasure trove of data in and of itself.  As a Digital Media Telecommunications major, however, I’ll spare my proposal of any unnecessary legwork.  Focusing on my own framework will … Continue reading Ageism in Transgender Representation

Research Proposal – Considering and Transitioning

The research proposal ought to be a big, bad, intimidating monolith of an assignment.  There’s obviously a lot riding on my ability to wear the topic on my sleeve, so considering I’ve already changed topics once this semester, I’m obviously predisposed to reluctance.  As this class has progressed, however, I’ve begun to feel like I … Continue reading Research Proposal – Considering and Transitioning
