Week 3: New Reading & a Quiz

Weekly Overview:

This week, you’ll have a quiz on Parts 1 through 3 of the current text and a new chapter to read. To help prepare for the quiz, those who had presentations in the previous two weeks will start a conversation about those presentations. Additionally, the subject samplers will create presentations on the new chapter for this week.

The Week’s Learning Objectives:

  • Differentiate between sampling techniques and their related terms.
  • Increase your understanding of Topics 1 through 3.

Week 3 Learning Tasks

A. Activity Checklist:

  1. Review Parts 1 – 3 of Patten
  2. Review and, if you wish, reply to Part 1 -3 presentations
  3. Read Part 4.
  4. Lecture Slides Four – Sampling
  5. If you need more guidance on the interface or some APA Style tips, check out the video I recorded last week with one of your classmates.

B. Assignment Checklist:

  1. Quiz 1 on Chapters 1 -3
  2. The group that will present on Sampling has their assignment in Bb and got emails last week.
  3. Those who presented in week one and week two should reply to at least two group members’ presentations with clarifications, additional information, or questions.
    • I hope this portion of the presentation assignment will help you see connections between the various subtopics.

Due: Monday, February 7 at 2 pm Central

Quiz Tips:

  • To prepare, be sure to review the textbook and the PowerPoints! Have some easy to reference notes, too.
  • You should not expect to do well on the quiz if you are not pretty familiar with all of that material. While the quiz is open-book, it does not provide you with much time to find the answers. Be sure you are ready to answer the questions on your own.
  • The quiz will be available one week after it is due. This can help you review your answers and take notes to help you with the mid-term. Once you finish the quiz, you should be able to review each question, whether you got credit for your answer, and what options were available.
  • All quizzes are multiple-choice. Only one answer will be the correct answer. Be sure to choose the best possible answer.
