My topic continues to involve telecommunications and how innovation has been affecting it. I am starting to focus more on cooperative networks and how the industry continues to improve with moving big data at fast and reliable speeds. To reach saturation I am trying different and more precise searches to see if I can find any more relevant articles.
1st Search:
Database: Computer Source
Search: telecommunication AND cooperative networks
Limiters: full text, peer reviewed, 2014-2022
Results: 6
This search did not bring up as many results as I thought that it would, but 3 of the 6 results seemed relevant to me and good for my topic.
Ahmed, M., Hong, C., & Lee, S. (2014). Energy efficient smart-relay-based cooperative mac for wireless networks. Computing, 96(2), 133–161. https://doi.org /10.1007/s00607-012-0229-5
Annotation #1
This article is a great topic on cooperative networks and goes into detail about some of the transmission and relay problems that big networks can have. The authors propose a way to efficiently fix some underlying problems in cooperative networks as well as improve overall network output. All three of the authors have a computer engineering background. Notably, Hong has an impressive 190 publications and is a very credible source for information on mobile networks. This article proves to be a great topic for cooperative networks and how some of the problems can be fixed.
2nd Search
Database: Computer Source
Search: big data AND transmission
Limiters: full text, peer reviewed, 2015-2022
Results: 13
After seeing how transmission is important in networking, I chose to add this to my search. Most of the searches did not seem too relevant to me, so I am not sure if this search would be good for my topic, but I did find one article that was intriguing.
Cinnamon, J. (2020). Data inequalities and why they matter for development. Information Technology for Development, 26(2), 214–233. https://doi.org /10.1080/02681102.2019.1650244
Annotation #2
This article is all about data, whether it is a small collection or large. The author draws from various collections of data and talks about the field as a whole. Cinnamon looks to explain the advance of data and how data inequalities came to be. The article provides examples in hope that data inequalities can be better understood in the future.
3rd Search
Database: Sage Premier
Search: data compression AND networks AND wireless
Limiters: 2015-2022
Results: 504
With this search, I wanted to see if I could find any articles that were useful for some advances in wireless networks. The bulk of the results seemed irrelevant for my topic.
Campobello, G., Segreto, A., & Serrano, S. (2016). Data gathering techniques for wireless sensor networks: a comparison. International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks. https://doi.org/10.1155/2016/4156358
Annotation #3
The three authors of this article look to compare all of the approaches to monitoring data gathering. To do this, they carry out a simulation to represent the different methods and the results show that there is not one method that would work for all techniques. The article does a good job of comparing the different trade-offs for each data gathering method and gives a model to better compress the data in wireless networks.
4th Search
Database: Computer Science Collection
Search: cloud computing AND cooperative networks
Limiters: full text, peer reviewed, 2015-2022
Results: 62
With this search, I am trying to find some more articles that involve cooperative networks with other factors involved. Lots of the results involved the security of devices which is not necessarily what I was looking for. Nevertheless, I still found some relevant articles that delt with cooperative networks.
Wang, J., Ouyang, M., Liang, W., Hou, J., & Liu, X. (2017). Device-to-device relay cooperative transmission based on network coding. KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Systems, 11(7), 3431+. http://doi.org/10.3837/tiis.2017.07.007
Annotation #4
This article details some device-to-device communication through the cloud. The five authors propose a network transmission algorithm to better help the device communication. In the article, different communication analysis is compared, and the author’s proposal shows through a simulation, that transmission can be improved. Overall, the article looks to improve device-to-device communication through cloud computing and shows a promising future for telecommunications.
5th Search
Database: Communication and Mass Media Complete
Search: iot
Limiters: full text, peer reviewed
Results: 41
This last search was to see If I could find anything of relevancy involving the internet of things in communication networks. To my surprise, I saw some promising articles that might help with my research.
Corso, J. F., Camargo, Y. J., & Ramirez, L. J. (2016). Industrial wireless sensors network with an Iot-internet of things-platform. Journal of Current Issues in Media & Telecommunications, 8(4), 345–368.
Annotation #5
This article shows the implementation of a new communication system that was made based on the internet of things. The authors use data from sensors across the web and use the data collected to form their “SCADA” system. Their system utilizes a cloud server to access data across the internet. The implementation of their cloud system was a success and is a new way to monitor their sensors across the world.
Saturation
Over the last few weeks, I have searched countless times to narrow down relevant articles for my topic. I do not think that I will need much more additional searches because I have already found so many. I have found that the database Computer Source has been the most useful for my topic and I will continue to use it in the near future. Computer Science Collection, Sage Premier, EBSCOhost Academic Search Premier, and Communication and Mass Media Complete have also proved useful in my searches. I think that I am definitely close to saturation, and I do not think that there is much more I can search for involving my topic.
