Final Preparations and Reaching Saturation

Have I reached saturation?

There was still an abundance of information available when I completed these last five final searches. So, I am not sure that I have reached saturation.

Databases that I utilized:

Computer Source

  1. Database: Computer Source Database
  2. Exact search: “robotics and artificial intelligence”
  3. 1,163 results returned. I used the limiter: full text which narrowed the search down to 365 results. This seems like it will be useful. Most of the results are related to my subject and are relevant.

Annotation:

Edwards, B. I., & Cheok, A. D. (2018). Why Not Robot Teachers: Artificial Intelligence for Addressing Teacher Shortage. Applied Artificial Intelligence, 32(4), 345–360. https://doi-org.ezproxy.fhsu.edu/10.1080/08839514.2018.1464286

This article addresses the global teacher shortage and its impact on the future of education. The use of automation and the industrial revolution prove that intelligent machines and robots are the workforce of the future. The article discusses the authors’ project which is to design and develop an independent robot teacher.

Applied Science & Technology Abstracts

  1. Database: Applied Science & Technology Abstracts
  2. Exact search: “robotics and artificial intelligence”
  3. 1,436 results returned. I used the limiter: linked full text which narrowed the search down to 457 results. I saw several articles relevant to my search, so I think this is useful.

Annotation:

Anandan, T. M. (2018). Artificial intelligence’s impact on the robotics industry. Control Engineering, 65(4), 28–31.

The article discusses the impact of artificial intelligence and the robotics industry. It also discusses how robots are being taught to learn and handle complex tasks using artificial intelligence. The article also focuses on the context of human intelligence and machine intelligence.

Gale Academic Onefile

  1. Database: Gale Academic Onefile
  2. Exact search: “robotics and artificial intelligence”
  3. 52 Academic Journal results returned. This search didn’t yield as many relevant articles, but there were a few that relate to my research.

Annotation:

Onorato, D. A. (2018, December). Robots, Unions, and Aging: Determinants of Robot Adoption Evidence from OECD Countries. Atlantic Economic Journal, 46(4), 473+. https://link.gale.com/apps/doc/A578046873/AONE?u=klnb_fhsuniv&sid=bookmark-AONE&xid=3ea0851d

This article focuses on an examination of the relationship between robot adoptions, the labor force, and unions. Evidence shows that aging of the labor force and union density have negative and significant impacts on the adoption of industrial robots. This article is a couple of years old, but it has some interesting data related to the human work force and robot labor force.

Google Scholar

  1. Database: Google Scholar
  2. Exact search: “robotics and artificial intelligence”
  3. Initial search yielded 1,170,000 results returned. I used the limiter “since 2022” and the results narrowed down to 9,960 results. I think this search is relevant to my research, and I can see many article headings that relate to my topic.

Annotation:

Ramanujam, E., Rasikannan, L., Anandhalakshmi, P. A., & Kamal, N. A. (2022). Xenobots: A Remarkable Combination of an Artificial Intelligence-Based Biological Living Robot. International Journal of Sociotechnology and Knowledge Development (IJSKD), 14(1), 1-11.

This article discusses how robotics and artificial intelligence have taken the world beyond automation. It presents a live cell robot named Xenobots. I think this article is useful because it focuses on the evolution of robots in biology.
