More advanced ways of finding research sources!

I have found eight potential sources to use from my research proposal. My research question is: Does cellphones ruin family time?  I have found some sources that will help a lot with this research question. The Subject searching and citation trace I believed increased the amount of available resources for my research.

Subject Searching

I went with the mathematics and Computer Science subject tab. Then went with OmniFile Full Text Mega database. With the Boolean search, I typed Phone Use AND Family which gave me 167 results, then I selected Year 2011 to 2022, and PDF Full Text then it netted the results to 42 total.   I found a interesting source, Parents’ Social Uses of Mobile Phones in Public Places: The Case of Eateries in Two Nation Contexts.  This source would be very useful for my research how this articles is about a study that examines how parents use mobile phones in public places and how maybe it affects their relationships with their young children, as they are more into their phones rather than paying attention what is going with young ones (Elias and Dafna, 2021).

Citation Trace

I did use the above article for my citation trace. I found a interesting article called “Lake at me!” Parental use of mobile phones at the playground. The link that was shared did work.   The article shares research about how parent-child communication is rapidly changing as a result of mobile devices and their interaction among with their family members (Lemish and Floegel, 2019).  This is not something I would think of back tracing citation like this. This could not only confirm the validity of the research article but can also increase your resources available.
