Research Proposal Questions, Comments, and Concerns

The assignment instructions seem pretty straight forward, so I don’t have a lot of questions. I was a bit confused on whether or not we have unlimited submissions to check for plagiarism in black board. The way I understood it, we can keep submitting to check until the paper is actually due and then we would only have four days to correct anything. Is that how anyone else interpreted the information?

I also think that my biggest challenge is going to be narrowing down my topic. My first idea has been proving to be a little general and I’m working on finding something that is more specific. I’m confident in my writing skills, so I just have to lean on the information we’ve learned in the class and apply it fully to this paper.

In the blog post  that shared some examples, Dr. Loggins mentioned the Lynn Haggard research award that a previous student had won. I want to work towards having high quality work that I can submit and, fingers crossed, win. Even if I submit and don’t win, it is still a great goal to work towards that will keep me in the mindset of creating quality work.

  1. When it comes to resubmission, you are allowed to revise and resubmit your document as much as you want before the deadline. When submitting early, please let me know if you plan to check your submission and revise it or if it is ready to grade. The assignment is set up for unlimited resubmissions.

Overall, it is your responsibility to notice and correct any plagiarism. If I happen to notice it, I will let you know and encourage you to resubmit by the Friday of finals week. So, I think you generally had the right idea.

I’m also happy to visit with students via text message, phone, or video chat, to provide feedback by appointment, and I’ve included various information to help you identify plagiarism, like the plagiarism quiz, in the course information menu: https://ltblogs.fhsu.edu/inf405master/2021/09/20/plagiarism-help/
