I first heard about cryptocurrency from a friend in 2017, when he was discussing a new fork of Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash. Now this didn’t quite make sense to me at the time, leaving me confused as to what these bits of coins were and why they were using forks, though it intrigued me to look into it a little more. After some research and understanding how to use this revolutionary digital currency, things began to make more sense, that this was a new way of sending and receiving money online.
Now I’ve always had my doubts and after experimenting with Bitcoin myself I don’t see it going anywhere as an actual replacement for cash as it is too inconvenient for the average consumer. As a result of its low amount of user friendliness my stance is to remain in the decision phase for the time being. While I like what Bitcoin has to offer, its decentralized nature is far too risky for any government to endorse for the time being. Should Bitcoin become common as a day to day currency and hit a stable price, I could see myself reaching the Confirmation stage. Unfortunately it does not seem as if that will happen any time soon.
Now as I am not yet an adopter of Bitcoin I will compare it to a more recent adoption I made. A few years back I made the decision to upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, out of stress that the Windows 7 Operating System was no longer being supported. Upon reaching the confirmation stage I was in the Late Majority category, as older versions of Windows pre-date Windows 7 and are still in use across the world I do not see myself as being a Laggard. Hardware wise I used to be quite the early adopter however, grabbing the GTX1080 Ti shortly after launch. As someone who uses their computer a lot I see hardware as one of the best investments I can make. Unlike new software, new hardware tends not to have as many massive bugs which made a switch far more practical. Keeping with the times is important, though it is also important to watch as others test the waters for you.
Good afternoon,
I completely agree that the crypto currency space itself is quite user unfriendly, so many rings and hoops have to be jumped through and just has never really been something to interest me. Now not only is there cryptocurrency, but also NFTs. I still do not quite understand them fully and why people are spending so much money on them. You are correct when stating that keeping up with the times are important.
