In depth search

I have multiple sources that I plan on using for my research proposal. My proposal is focused around the digitization of businesses and the impact that had and continue to have. The sources I have been using cover a range of topics relating to COVID-19, Remote Working, and business.

Subject Searching

I chose the Informatics subject and selected the Full Text Articles database type .  Out of the results I chose the Applied Science & Technology Full text ( EBSCO Host) database.  I then did  a boolean search for Digitization ,Business , and Industry.  This resulted in 67 total results.  I then changed the dates of the articles I was looking for to range between 2019-2022 which cut down my results to 14 articles.

After looking through the results I found an article that was related to information I was looking for. The article mentioned the digitization of  manufacturing industries and the improvements this will have on the productivity and quality of products. The subject term this led me to was “Industry 4.0 Sako, M. (2022)

Upon using the subject term “Industry 4.0” I resulted in 526 results. Upon clicking on a few articles I decided to also include the subject term “COVID-19 pandemic” (Krivokuca, M. (2021)”. With a new search I ended up with a total of only 12 articles.

Limiting the search to only peer reviewed journals, a total of two articles remained. (Faizurroham, M., Baga. L.M,  Jahroh S. (2021). This article was able to provide some new insight into a newly learned topic related to the information of my paper.

The searches I used required a lot less digging then the ones I would previously use before for my final paper. This method is able to cut in half the time spent digging through articles that would usually not be as relevant to the information I was looking for.

Citation Trace

I used a different article for my citation trace, going through I found a citation titled “   I found one citation titled “Digital Transformation and Marketing Activities in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises” (a Ziółkowska., 2021).  The link did not work but through a google search I was able to find the full PDF version of the article. The citation led me to more information that related to the topic of my paper. The newly found article focused on e paper seeks to find out how digital transformation impacts marketing activities in small and medium-sized enterprises. The citation trace was a new idea that helped me find more information on my topic.
