Accessibility, why it’s important, and why it needs more support

My research proposal concerns something I’m passionate about, accessibility. The study of accessibility typically focuses on either how it’s important for those with special needs, or how it’s important to be included in software and web development. However, it’s weak when it comes to why accessibility is important overall, for everyone, even those without special need requirements.

For example, while form labels, appropriate contrast, easily navigable headers, and so forth are important for those with special tools like screen readers, or visions impairment, it also helps with SEO, page loading, and overall enjoyment of a user’s experience. Also, accessibility impacts society in large by helping classrooms be more diverse.  I’ve included the proposal to do usability studies with an observer on a webpage that includes these accessibility features, and one that’s an exact copy that doesn’t include these features. Then a comparison between a pre and post interview is done.
