My initial research idea was about if eating healthier could lead to improved grades and better learning retention. I did not understand the assignment. Now my research idea is about why small businesses suffer from cyber-attacks and what all can be done going forward.  I work in a small business, and we have been attacked twice in the past 5 years. We didn’t suffer any losses and we were able to get back to business as normal rather quickly.

I want to find out what makes small businesses a target for cyber-attacks. Do attackers feel like it will be easier to attack because of the size of the business? What training should be done for small business employees? Should employees have severe internet restrictions? Do most victims have in house or outsourced IT departments? Which have a better success rate in preventing attacks? I feel like I will run into more questions as I continue my research.

Taylor (2020) argues that there should be policies in place to address employee behavior. Maybe there should be. But at what point do the policies become a strain on their work?

The databases I will be using are Applied Science & Technology Full-Text, Computer Source and Computer Science Collection. These will give me the information needed to carry out my research proposal.
