Artificial Intelligence in Cars

Initially I knew I wanted to research artificial intelligence, I was just not sure what aspect of it I wanted to research. Eventually I finally narrowed it down to artificial intelligence in cars or robotics. Now I have decided that I am going to do it over artificial intelligence in cars. However, I have not done much research yet. A question I currently want to try and answer are self driving cars really beneficial? What is being done to make the self driving cars more accurate and safer? Something that is sort of off topic of artificial intelligence in cars that I want answered is, are electric cars going to take over gas ones?

The databases I plan on using is CREDO, JSTOR, and Computer Science Collection.

  1. Hey Jordon,
Narrowing down your topic of artificial intelligence to the software in cars is a good choice. There are plenty of articles about the safety of self-driving vehicles and the measures companies are taking to ensure the safety of this technology. I do not believe electric cars will take over the gas type, but buying electric vehicles seems to be more economical due to the inflation of gas prices. When gas prices decrease, people will probably stop questioning this idea. The only time self-driving vehicles are beneficial is when someone is on a long drive and there is not much traffic. Other than that, I do not trust self-driving cars, especially in heavily-trafficked areas. It would be interesting to see how companies improve their self-driving vehicles. Are they making sensors have a more extended range to detect objects? Is the reaction time of the cars being improved? Is there a system to counter-react against things that may crash into the car? These are the types of questions I would ask myself before researching to make myself think about self-driving vehicles. Overall, I think you have a popular idea to study, and I hope you have a great time researching this topic.
