Just some back story. back in 2007 I saw my brother playing battlefield 2 on his pc. I remember sneaking into his room just to play battlefield. I was hooked on playing video games on pc so I began to beg my parents for a computer that I could play on. later on that year for Christmas they had my brother look for a computer and found me one. when I unbox it I was happy and was ready to start playing some games on it. Now that I look back I could see that I was one of those early to late majority adopters. while PCs have been around for a while at that time the small town that I was In the only computers there were mostly owned by the schools and did not have the capacity to game on. on another note I could say that I was an early majority adopter on the operating system which was windows vista. (Release date: November 2006) Fast forward today I still use the PC to game on.
I have used other Innovations. One would windows surface. I remember being given a iPad in school to learn on and I asked my parents to get me an iPad for Christmas. note this was back in 2012. Well my mother said we will see what we can do. I ended up being a very early adopter of the surface. this was Microsoft first attempt to counter the iPad. when I first saw it I did not like it. but now that I look back at it, it was an okay device. It could not beat Apple’s iPad . recently I found it in my closet and booted it up to see what it had. The reason why I said I was a very early adopter was because it is still running on the beta version of windows 8RT which came out in October of 2012.
overall If I were to buy both of these again at their price at the current time and buy them today I would say they are not worth it. back then they were cutting edge technology which made them expensive. however, present time they are made useless because far better technology has been made.
Justin,
OH 2007? You’re making me feel old here! HAHA!
My first PC game was Quake II. I had dial-up internet at the time and my mom did not like her daughter playing a first person shooter game. I was not allowed to play it, so naturally I was on for hours when she was at work on my days off from school or before she got home from work. One time the computer froze up with the game up on the screen, mid-kill shot with pixeled blood all over. I freaked out – my mom could NOT know I was playing! I didn’t know what to do so I started praying for it to work–which ended up not working at all–so in desperation I unplugged the computer. I wasn’t sure what would happen but all I knew is my mom could not see the computer on that screen. When the computer came back on after I plugged it back in I let out a huge sigh of relief and vowed from that day on I would learn how to USE the computer before playing that game again. I learned every part and what they did. So if anything ever happened while I was on it (when I wasn’t supposed to be) I could fix it.
