Week 8: MidTerm and Discussion

Friday marks the middle of this semester. We are almost halfway through. That also means it’s time for the midterm exam. Additionally, we have a small discussion this week to help you better understand your final proposal.

Since Spring Break is next week, you have extra time to study before the midterm is due. If you are in a group that’s recently presented, you will need to do replies this week or halfway through Spring Break. This will help ensure more classmates can benefit from your in-depth reviews of the chapters.

Main Deadline: Monday, March 21 at 2 pm Central

Exception: Students doing presentation replies, should reply during the first half of Break.

This week’s discussion: You should have begun reviewing the proposal instructions last week. Create a post to note anything you find confusing, what you think will be most challenging, or what you think might be most fun about the assignment.

  • Remember to use the “Week 8” category, a unique title, good visuals, grammar, spacing, and tags. If you want additional guidance, remember the Week 1 Feedback.
  • Use clear references, too. There is a LOT of information on the final paper. So be sure to clearly tell us exactly what part of the post, example, and instructions inspired your comment.

This Week’s Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand some essential basics of social science research.
  2. Begin to consider how a social science study is conducted and conveyed.

 Learning Activities:

  1. Continue reviewing for the midterm exam on Parts 1 through 9 of the current text.
  2. Continue reviewing the final research proposal assignment.

Assignments:

  1. Create a post, following the instructions above, related to the research proposal assignment.
  2. Go to the Quizzes, Exams, and Surveys section of Bb to complete the midterm exam
  3. DUE EARLY! BY WEDNESDAY, MARCH 16: Students in the Method Masters, Data Dealers, and Subject Samplers should add to at least two group members’ presentations with a comment that expands or adds to the information they presented.
