Before you continue to Week 5, please review the feedback I posted in Week 4 about the Week 1 posts. I used one post to discuss your research ideas and another to discuss best practices for post format.
Weekly Overview:
Once you’ve finished last week’s potential employer assignment, make sure to post it on the blog site and upload the document in Bb before the deadline.

Then, Let’s talk about what we shared. Check out the posts from others in your group. Comment on at least two of those posts. Reply to two posts with what you find interesting about a company, suggestions to improve the research or interview questions, or add additional information about a company.
After you finish reading part 5 of our current text, you’ll be ready for this week’s quiz. Quiz 2 covers Parts 4 and 5 of the text. Review information is in the earlier weekly units and in your classmate’s presentations. There are a total of 30 questions, you will have 45 minutes to finish the quiz. This is an open book, open note quiz. And, you had tips for class quizzes in the Week 3 Overview.
We have new readings for this week, new PowerPoints, and a helpful video for an upcoming assignment. To get a little ahead, check out Heather Van Dyne‘s video that provided previous students with great tips on finding academic research and reviewing the articles you find. Then, before you have to summarize a research article next week, spend a little time this week finding that article. You’ll want to make sure it is an article that reviews one empirical study. Preferably, you’ll choose one that will help you figure out your proposal and its general topic at the end of the semester.
Note on Replies: As you reply to discussion group members on presentations or blog posts, try and add some substantive information. Your opinions are fine but provide us with a specific example or two for why you hold that opinion that can help us better understand your perspective (See p 4 of Syllabus for more).
Also, I usually grade replies to an assignment while I grade the original blog post. This means that when I first see a reply from you, I will give you a grade of 80 and paste a link to it in your assignment evaluation on Bb. I’ll also let you know I am still grading.
Before I finish grading replies, I always try to go through evaluations for students that did not get full credit. I’ll make sure they only had one reply and note in the evaluation that it’s the only one I found.

- As we approach the Quiz on Parts 4 & 5, everyone is encouraged to review and interact with the relevant presentations from Week 3 and last week, Week 4.
- The reliable researchers and the Subject Samplers, who created those presentations, must comment on two group members’ presentation posts. Please do your replies sooner rather than later so they can better help your classmates.
