Proposal Impressions

For this proposal, I am concerned about finding a topic and an opening where more research is needing. That sounds time consuming. My hope is that I’ll be able to locate a topic with a wealth of current information but also an opening for further research.
I like the idea of including a lot of citations. Under the literature review sections, we learn that the majority of our review will be reviewing research. I hope that I’m able to research my topic well and I hope I can do the citations well.
Regarding the discussion section, I wonder if I will be able to envision a follow-up study. I would want more information about what the follow-up study is.
Ultimately, I am intimidated by large projects and I hope I will do well at this.

  1. I also am sometimes intimidated by larger projects – mainly research papers. But I also know that I am always like this at first until I end up finding information and then I get into the project. I am hoping this is the same way!
Wishing us all good luck on the research paper 🙂

  2. Sometimes you have to avoid overthinking. I try to personalize my subject matter to issues that impact my life as those are the things I know the most about. What is going on in your life that causes you to want to know more about it somehow? It could be a medical issue, housing shortages or excess, changing prices, literally anything. Formulate the question you’d like an answer to, then research it. If research has been done, does that research specifically address your question If not, you have a subject. Reach out a bit further and think about subjects that might be a topic of conversation between you and your peers that there are a lot of questions but not many answers. Usually, particularly with the internet at hand, we are ignorant because not a lot of information on the answer exists, or the information is conflicting. Again, tailor your question to your results to fill in any blank spots that you find. Finding new questions about new subjects is a major part of scientific discovery, but so is finding new questions about old subjects that may not yet be answered. I start with what I don’t know, then look for answers. And there’s a lot I realize I don’t know, so it isn’t too hard to find one of my questions that I can’t find an answer to. Personal interest will show in your writing and will always make a paper better.
