Week 13 Research: Searching in new databases.

My research topic is “Artificial Intelligence Regulations”. The focus on the research changed from the dangers of Artificial Intelligence to regulations for artificial intelligence. For his week’s research, I am hoping to find more sources that back my point on why Artificial Intelligence needs to be regulated. I performed three searches, the first one was on EBSCOhost which is where I have found most of my sources from. The second one was on Chilton Library, and the final one was on Faulkner’s Advisory for IT Studies. Before doing the searches I had some high expectations on the second and third databases as I had not explored them before.

On the EBSCOhost database the results for searching “artificial intelligence” & “regulations and laws” were a total of 32. I managed to find useful sources backing up my point on why Artificial Intelligence needs to be regulated.

The Chilton Library database the results for searching “artificial intelligence regulations” got a total of 155 results. Not a single one of the results is something I can use for my research. Searching for “artificial intelligence” resulted in 60 results. None of the results will be used for my research proposal.
The third database that was searched was Faulkner’s Advisory for IT Studies. Searching for artificial intelligence resulted in proximately 40 sources. The sources are that came up are not necessarily on the regulation for Artificial Intelligence.

As of now, I believe I have reached saturation. I have enough sources to back up my point on why artificial intelligence needs to be regulated. If I do end up needing more sources I think EBSCOhost is the place where I can find more. The sources that I do have are very similar and focus on the context of regulations for artificial intelligence. I do believe citing too many sources will make the research too wordy and a handful of good credible sources from experts on the topic of artificial intelligence will make a better paper.

  1. Looks like you’ve found great content, Luis! But, remember you will be proposing primary social scientific research that can text factual theories. The proposal is not a persuasive essay.
