Technology’s Impact on Virtual Learning for Middle School Students

I will be conducting a quantitative experiment to help me learn about the impact that technology has on a middle school student’s ability to understand math concepts. I was excited to learn that the searches I conducted this week helped me find new, helpful resources to further my understanding of my research topic.

Subject Search

I used the Education database to find the Educational Research sub-database, which led me to the ERIC database to conduct my search. I used the search term “virtual learning” to begin. From there, I used the advanced search filters “Since 2020”, “Electronic Learning”, and “Journal Articles” to refine my search. I found 192 search results from this search.

Citation Trace

For my citation trace, I decided to use the Education Source database. I used the search terms virtual learning AND academic performance, which found 139 results. The article that caught my eye is called Effects of a Centered Virtual Teaching Environment on Learning Styles in the Academic Performance of College Students.
Using the references that the authors listed at the end of their article, I conducted a citation trace on an article called Learning Styles Research: Understanding How Teaching Should Be Impacted by the way learners learn. This article was not in the E-Journals list under the Collections menu when I did a Journal Title search. It was also unavailable through Education Full Text, Education Source, and ERIC (via EBSCOhost). I was able to find an open-source copy using Google Scholar.
This article cited 22 sources and was cited by 25 sources.
