Changes to Research

The database I used for both Hospitality And Tourism Collection (Gale).
Search #1

  1. My first search for this database was “informatics and travel.”  40 magazine results, 29 academic journals, 3 books and 368 news showed up for the result.  The boolean term I used was AND.  Though all the results that showed up seemed interesting – the first one, Travel Technology Business News – North America, seemed the most helpful and interesting for my topic.  It was helpful because it discussed how helpful informatics, smart phones and tablets have been for the travel industry and how not having them actually slowed the process down.
  2. Travel Industry AND informatics AND airline industry.  1 result
  3. Travel OR Informatics research 267,414 results
  4. “Travel Technology Business News – North America.” AirGuide Business, 29 Apr. 2013. Gale OneFile: Hospitality and Tourism, link.gale.com/apps/doc/A340445448/PPTH?u=klnb_fhsuniv&sid=PPTH&xid=cc459de2. Accessed 13 Apr. 2021.

Search #2: Computer Source Database

  1. The second database I used was Computer Source.  I searched the terms “travel industry AND ai” came up with 7 results.  I also searched “e-tourism ai” and came up with 102 results.
  2. With the search term “e-tourism ai” I added “e-tourism AND ai” it decreased the searches to 3 results.  With the search term “smart phones and travel” in the Gale database I changed it to “smart phones and travel informatics.”  That helped narrow the search down to 4 magazines.
  3. Searched “airline industry AND informatics” 4 results
  4. Wang Wei, Kumar Neeraj, Chen Junxin, Gong Zhiguo, Kong Xiangjie, Wei Wei, Gao Honghao, Nov/Dec 2020.  Computer Source: travel industry and ai, http://web.a.ebscohost.com.ezproxy.fhsu.edu:2048/ehost/detail/detail?vid=11&sid=b10da731-a04c-4761-a28f-3f3bc192696d%40sdc-v-sessmgr01&bdata=JnNpdGU9ZWhvc3QtbGl2ZSZzY29wZT1zaXRl#AN=147401218&db=cph.

  1. It appears the informatics and travel database is going to be a valuable source. While the computer source database has been invaluable for my topic, that does not seem to be the case for yours as the results are rather slim. I have found that the boolean AND has been the best for my searches. It seem OR always brings too many unrelated results. You mentioned NOT in another reply. I may give that a try. Good luck and keep at it.
