The Impact of substituting cbd oil for prescription medications

1.My initial research idea, and my current idea

The research idea I came up with was something I always wanted to experiment with and has not changed since the beginning of the semester. I am currently researching if non psychiatric CBD Hemp Oil can replace the prescribed and over the counter medicines, I have taken over the years for chronic pain. The reason this all came about was from sports injuries I suffered while playing many sports in my youth. I have suffered from many fractured bones, strain ligaments and dislocations which eventually catches up with people who played a lot of sports growing up. At one point a few years ago I would get 4-6 cortisone shots for pain in my lower back, up neck and knees. Many times, joint injuries cause severe arthritis which I am sure will eventually catch up with me as I age. I started uses CBD oil a few years ago and noticed immediately that it relieved many of the chronic pains I was enduring, and it also allowed me to get a better night’s rest. For me getting the appropriate amount of deep sleep is vital to how I feel the next day.

2.What did you want to find out in your research area?

My ultimate experiment is to find out if I can eventually stop taken the prescribed medications and replace it with CBD oil. I already have conducted some researched and I found out that many people are currently using CBD oil for varies illness and many more people are discovering the medicinal uses for more than chronic pain.

3.Have you already found research related to your idea? If so, what is that research?

The FDA has approved the use of CBD oil for seizures. From the current research I have done so far CBD oil treats about 15 well known medical issues from seizures, cancer, glaucoma, anxiety, depression, PDST and many more.

4.Database choices

My three Database choices all have hundreds of articles pertaining to CBD oil and pain. I will be using the below databases to conduct a cross sectional study which will include qualitative and quantitative research.

  1. Hi Daryl!
First off, I find your research topic really interesting! I think that it is awesome that you are taking this problem into your own hands and researching in order to try and find a solution that works best for you. I feel that finding other stories like yours would be a great way to develop a more holistic view of the topic that will shed light on how useful CBD could be. I am excited to see where this goes!

  2. Daryl,
I couldn’t agree more with Samuel. I think it is so neat that you chose a topic that you relate with personally and are trying to find a solution for you and possibly thousands of people. I think this will be a great read and really look forward to seeing your result. I am glad that it is working for you and that you are getting some relief. I think it is crazy how states are fighting so hard against this when it has been proven to help so many. I am a big believer in CBD and that it helps so many different medical issues. Good job!
