Proposal Instructions- Excited and Nervous!

When looking over the proposal instructions that we will be delivering at the end of this semester, the main part of this that I feel will be most difficult is under the Literature Review section. It is as follows:
“Be specific. This is critical, looking at the proposal from several angles will help demonstrate that you’ve investigated the project thoroughly and are actually prepared to implement a plan, if given an opportunity.”

I feel that doing a deep dive of research into a more complex topic is going to be difficult just based off of the nature of what you are doing. However, I feel this will be compounded by knowing you need to understand the topic from all sides. I do not say all of this to complain, I am going to enjoy the challenge. I just feel this will add an extra degree of difficulty for myself since I can be bad about getting “tunnel vision” and focusing on only one aspect that I find interesting, important, or relate to. Being able to peel away each layer of all the different sub-topics that revolve around the overall topic chosen will give the greatest insight into the issue at hand, but it will be one of the more difficult tasks to be undertaken by the researcher in my opinion.

  1. Sounds like you’ll need to take it step-by-step, Samuel. Feel free to email me with a hypothesis or general idea that you’d like feedback on. You may be overcomplicating the assignment in your mind. However, the Hank & Aki example paper can be a good resource to understand what “specific” meant in the paper.
