After researching several web design companies, I realized how much the personality of a corporation’s leaders is reflected in its website. This discovery reinforces the notion that web design increases transparency and communicates powerfully. I also noticed that organizations vary greatly in philosophy, culture, and attention to detail. These differences became more apparent as I focused my research on the following companies.

Thrive Agency seems to have a work culture that produces camaraderie among coworkers. The leadership structure also provides assistance, which would allow me to grow as a web developer, improve my skills, and take on new challenges. Thrive Agency is currently employing 160 individuals in 35 states, and 8 different countries. Thrive also lists positions that allow the web developer to work remotely from home, which would be particularly beneficial since I do not live in the United States.

Digitech aims to craft designs that produce optimum user experiences so that it is easy for the viewer to commit. This company prioritizes websites that center on usability and easy interaction, eliminating frustrations and making navigation a pleasure. These goals harmonize with mine, so I believe I would be a good fit in this company. Digitech is a fast growing company, with 1891 employees in 2019. Digitech has an open corporate culture and seems to promote teamwork, with each member of the team having different strengths which combine to produce excellent results. This ‘team’ culture would allow me to focus on my strengths and rely on the other members, whose strengths are different from mine, to create exceptional websites and mobile applications.

Option 4: Balkan Bros.

Balkan Bros. focuses on projects involving UX and UI design, website development and branding. Their products are used in advertising and marketing, promoting entertainment events and business services. The company currently has 12 employees. Balkan Brothers is based in Croatia. Employees work from various locations, including Croatia, France, UK, and Slovakia, and their clients include BNP Paribas (France), Otsuka Pharmaceuticals (Japan), Kaspersky Lab (Russia), and Fursan Travel (Saudi Arabia). I am interested in this company because they have such an international reach, and I have international experience, having lived in three countries.
Because English is the language of the internet, these companies from various nations will seek web designers who can communicate their aims in English. While many Europeans have limited English proficiency, fluency is rare and my English skills will be a benefit to the company. Also, this company has clients in France, where I currently reside.
Questions to ask during the interview:
- In your estimation, what type of person would be able to fulfill these responsibilities successfully?
- Now that we have discussed my skills and abilities, do you have any concerns about me accomplishing the objectives you have in mind for this role?
- What objectives would you like the person in this position to accomplish?
- What would indicate to you, say, in a year from now, that I have met your expectations?
