SUMMARY
This introduction to this special issue discusses artificial intelligence (AI), commonly defined as “a system’s ability to interpret external data correctly, to learn from such data, and to use those learnings to achieve specific goals and tasks through flexible adaptation.” It summarizes seven articles published in this special issue that present a wide variety of perspectives on AI, authored by several of the world’s leading experts and specialists in AI. It concludes by offering a comprehensive outlook on the future of AI, drawing on micro-, meso-, and macro-perspectives.
- Was the study experimental or non-experimental? Explain, tell us what made that clear. (10 pts)
I would say the study was non-experimental. What made it clear that the experiment was non-experimental is that there was no manipulation or treatment of any kind. The study describes the history of artificial intelligence, its advancements, and conflicts. There is
- Was the research qualitative or quantitative? Again, explain. (10 pts)
The research was qualitative as data gathered from historical events of artificial intelligence. The results of the research were represented in words by the data that was analyzed. There were individuals quoted in the reach which is one of the signs of qualitative research. Little is know about the future of artificial intelligence therefore qualitative research was done.
- What was the population studied? (5 pts)
For this particular research, there was no population studied. The study was about the historical events of the progress of artificial intelligence. The study describes the start of artificial interline to the current time in an analogy of four-season.
- What sample was used for this study? (5 pts)
There was no sample used for this study. The study was mostly from books and articles about artificial intelligence.
- What was the method of measurement? (10 pts)
I think the method of measurement was Data collection. The
-
- If the research was quantitative, was the measurement scale used, Nominal, Ordinal, Interval, or Ratio?
The research was qualitative.
-
- If the research was qualitative, what data was collected?
The data collected for this research was articles, documents from historical events, and legislation.
- What was the method of analysis? (10 pts)
The method of analysts was reviewing documents about artificial intelligence and its importance.
-
- If the research was quantitative, what statistical tools were used to analyze the data?
The research was qualitative
-
- If the research was qualitative, in what manner was the data analyzed?
I think the data was analyzed in a manner of importance. The events mentioned in the study are the most important or relevant to the history of artificial intelligence from how it created and the different types to how it seemed as not very important to the way we use it now and how it can take over our everyday things.
- What was the conclusion of the study? (10 pts)
The conclusion of the study was that there is not a certain way to regulate artificial intelligence, but there needs to be one. Artificial intelligence keeps evolving every day. Data is being fed into the machines so they could learn and there needs to be regulation on the data that is being fed to it.
- Why is this study useful to you? Explain in detail. (10 pts)
This study is useful to me because it goes into detail about the history of artificial intelligence and all of its advancements from 1940 to now. It mentions historical events that I did not know about that I could use for my own research and look deep into them. The article also mentions that we as a society have some regulation on artificial intelligence and to work on the biases it has against some people before it too late.
- What would be the next logical step in extending this study? (10 pts)
I think the next logical step in extending this study would be to mention ways of how to regulate artificial intelligence and show how to fix the data that’s been feed to the machines so there’s not biased against anyone.
With the way artificial intelligence is going, a method to regulate it is important. Artificial intelligence needs a way to steer it, and prevent it from acquiring inadvertent biases. Either unintentionally or intentionally
Hi Luis!
I think you did a great job answering the questions. I am interested in artificial intelligence, mainly how it is being used to better healthcare, but I have not spent a lot of time thinking about how it came to be or the history of it. I think your the article and your review of it helped me get an introduction of where it started and where we are now, as well as what the future could hold. I agree with you and Benjamin, AI can be great, but without regulations or no biases, it could quickly become a dangerous thing.
