If I were to be called for an interview, some questions I would ask would be what a typical day would be like at the hospital for the medical office assistant.  This could range from tasks that we have to perform to any projects they would have us do or if we had to help the nurses with anything.  Secondly, I would ask what they think is the most challenging part of the job.  Not all jobs are easy and some have tasks that are quite challenging.  Another would be what kind of training is involved?  Some jobs do on the job training whereas others have you be with a coworker for a week or two to get you trained and prepped so that you are able to be on your own.  What are the tasks that we perform the night before for the next day?
2. Specialist in Women’s Care in Lansing, Kansas

If I were to be called for an interview, I would like to ask the following questions: What software do you use to schedule appointments?  Different places use different software and some businesses prefer the medical office assistant to be trained in that particular software already or to have familiar knowledge of it before being hired.  Do we take vital signs of patients such as blood pressure and their temperature?  Some ObGyn offices will have their medical office assistant’s doing this task.  Lastly, what are the duties and responsibilities we will have to perform?  Different hospital have their front desk workers do different duties.
3. Blue Valley Dermatology and Medical Spa

  • Address: 7840 W 165th St., Overland Park, KS 66223
  • Website link: https://www.bluevalleydermatology.com
  • Phone Number: (913) 871-8221
  • Contact Person: Lauren Kyle, MD

Questions I would ask in an interview would be: If I get the necessary training to perform Botox and Fillers as well as microneedling, would I be able to perform them?  Do we need to have an RN license in order to perform Botox and Fillers?  What are the daily tasks that as Estheticians we would perform at the clinic?  Does your liability insurance policy cover me individually?
4. Munson Army Health Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas

  • Address: 550 Pope Ave, Fort Leavenworth, KS 66027
  • Website link: https://munson.tricare.mil
  • Phone number: (913) 684-6250
  • Contact Person: Colonel Garrick L. Cramer

Questions I would ask during an interview would be: what are the expectations of the job?  Is there training period involved on the job?  When the Post is closed to all but mission essential personnel, are all the Munson personnel considered mission essential?  Because this is a government job, do we have the opportunity to put in for other positions and move around?

  1. My first comment on on your selection of St. Luke’s Hospital. I find it interesting and positive that this hospital has such a large presence in the community. It also caught my attention that they have such a diverse offering of medical procedures to offer the community at large. I suppose the only question I might add to the research is, with so many locations, would you have to do any commuting from one location to another, or would you be permanently stationed at one facility?
My second comment is on your forth selection of the Munson Army Health Center. I certainly find this an interesting selection as there is definite job security in a government position. That said, I am a little unclear on what they do at this clinic and where you would fit in . Do they offer esthetic services or do they have a need for a person in the health informatics field? Are you required to have a military background, or would you go in as a civilian specialist? Would you be only stationed at this clinic, or could you be moved around in the system?

  2. Working in sort of Doctor’s office you never know what you might find you can do. I cannot say what we do at our clinic is what everyone does. However, when it comes to Botox injections the Doctor is the only one who can administer them. Our Nurse Practitioner is not allowed to inject them. I am not sure if that is just for safety reasons or not. I believe that your question about needing a license to perform Botox is spot on. That would be one of the first questions I try to get answered. Would you be willing to get your R.N. license if they paid for it?

  3. Brooke, I appreciate your formatting. I like the questions that you asked. Inquiring about the practical day to day aspects of the job seems very obvious but it is something that I never considered asking. Lastly, you didn’t mention how you felt about the employers after researching the company. Did any of them seem like bad jobs after you investigated?

  4. @jjrobins I mentioned how I felt the employers after researching in my paper. I just didn’t post it in this post. But if you click on the PotentialEmployerBH link at the beginning it has my paper on it.
