Weekly Overview:
You read about sampling in Part 4 of Patten and Newhart last week. Now, it’s time to move on to Part 5: Measurement. There are powerpoints available for this chapter in your Activity Checklist. We won’t have any review videos again until next week when we start looking at Part 6.
You also have your first research assignment this week: select and research four potential employers in-depth. Each person in a group MUST choose a different employer, so be sure to coordinate that before you start your research. You can use “Email Classmates” in Bb or use this blog to coordinate.
Be sure to read the instructions (Week 4 Blog Post: Potential Employer), so you don’t miss any required information. You will create a post to share the information with your classmates AND submit this assignment through Blackboard (see SafeAssign Writing Assignments). Additionally, you should review the plagiarism tips in the Bb submission area and watch the video for research tips to help you find the required information.
The Week’s Learning Objectives:
- Recall the basics of measuring variables in quantitative research.
- Utilize library resources to enhance a job search.
- Identify potential research topics useful to future employers.
Week 4 Learning Tasks:
A. Activity Checklist:
- Read Part 5
- Lecture Slides Five — Measurement
- Review “Examples of [Plagiarism] Common Mistakes” in the Employer Assignment in Bb.
- Review the 2019 Video on Employer Research
B: Potential Employer Blog Post
- Share your research on four potential employers.
I had questions about the format and length of this assignment. There is no page requirement. It just has to address all topics with four different employers.
You can format the paper however you like. But, do keep in mind that 25-points of the rubric relate to the grammar and ease of skimming your submission to Bb and your blog post.
You can post the paper as an attachment. However, be sure to have some basic information about the companies in your post to help your discussion group in Week 5.
If anyone has additional questions, just let me know!
