Weekly Overview:
The Forsyth workshop I mentioned about developing a research topic is this Wednesday. I hope you can attend. The link is in your activities checklist.
In class, you’ll have a quiz on Parts 1 through 3 of the current text and a new chapter to read. Also, we’ll start using the blog for group discussions. We’ll have smaller groups soon based on common research interests.
For now, the first three topics of your current texts have a number of good discussion questions. Let’s use those to get some conversations going this week.
Each student should create a post by Friday to answer one of the discussion questions in the text.
- Use the “Week 3 Blog Post” to categorize it.
- Title the post with the Topic and Discussion Question number and a general title, for example, “Topic 14, DQ 2: Structuring Literature Reviews.”
- WIth 24 topics and more than one discussion question per topic, there should be plenty of questions for everyone to choose from without any repetition.
- Remember to use blog conventions, such as visuals and tagging, as established in previous assignments.
Hint: To ensure clarity, the posts must refer to the topic number and be understandable without referring to the text.
Over the weekend, add your take to two classmates’ posts. Reply to the post with your thoughts on the discussion.
Hint: Make sure you are adding something new with your reply.
The Week’s Learning Objectives:
- Differentiate between sampling techniques and their related terms.
- Increase your understanding of Topics 1 through 3.

Quiz Tips:
- To prepare, be sure to review the textbook and the PowerPoints! Have some easy to reference notes, too.
- You should not expect to do well on the quiz if you are not pretty familiar with all of that material. While the quiz is open-book, it does not provide you with much time to find the answers. Be sure you are ready to answer the questions on your own.
- The quiz will be available one week after it is due. This can help you review your answers and take notes to help you with the mid-term. Once you finish the quiz, you should be able to review each question, whether you got credit for your answer, and what options were available.
- All quizzes are multiple-choice. Only one answer will be the correct answer. Be sure to choose the best possible answer.
