Diffusion of Innovation: Blog Post #2

DUE DATE: February 2

When reviewing the Diffusion of Innovations article, do so in the context of new innovations in Informatics. This could possibly be a new technology or a new technique for doing something. Review with the intent to underscore the idea that valid theories should be applicable in multiple situations and should help with the formulation of research hypotheses. Then, share your example on the blog.

In your post, explain:

  • A. Stages of Adoption
    1. How did you learn about this new innovation?
    2. At what Stage of Adoption do you currently see yourself with this new innovation?
    3. If you haven’t reached stage five, Confirmation, do you see yourself reaching that stage and if so, why? If not, why might you discontinue the use of the innovation?
  • B. Adopter Categories
    1. If you have reached the Implementation or Confirmation stage, which adopter category do you see yourself in, Innovators, Early Adopters, Early Majority, Late Majority or Laggards? Why?
      • If you haven’t, consider a different technology that you have adopted. Which category were you in when you began to use that technology? Why?
    2. What are other examples of innovations where you would have fallen in a different category? Explain which category and what was the innovation?

The rubric evaluates whether or not all of the above questions were answered correctly and whether the post shows good blogging style:

  • Written clearly, simply, and succinctly.
    • Hint: That means include clear details
    • Do not repeat yourself unnecessarily
    • Avoid excessive wordiness or archaic words, like “amongst,” being the person that writes in passive voice, or using phrases such as “due to the fact.”
  • Used the space well so we can skim it easily and added a relevant picture to make your post more visually appealing.
  • Categorized in Week 2 Blog Post and tagged with the following:
    1. Your stage of adoption
    2. Your adopter category
    3. The main innovation
    4. The secondary innovation
    5. Your adopter category for the secondary innovation

Hint: As with all assignments BE SURE to use quotation marks and references when necessary. Any plagiarized assignments will earn a zero and MUST be corrected to earn any credit and avoid an academic sanction.
