  • What is meant by directionality of flows?:
  • Deconstruction: Individuals tend to travel for medical procedures from under-developed to developed countries and vice versa. However, patients from developed countries are actually migrating to undeveloped countries to receive lower cost medical procedures.
  • Selection: 1) Qualified health professionals are decreasing in lower income countries because they are moving to developed countries for work. 2) However, patients from developed countries are actually migrating to undeveloped countries to receive lower cost medical procedures. 3) Healthcare professionals enjoy working in under-developed countries.
  • Sequencing: People do not only migrate from underdeveloped countries to developed countries to get medical care. It is important to know that some people go to lower developed countries because they can get quality care for lower prices than high income countries.
  • Stakes: Healthcare professionals are leaving their native countries where they earned their education. These professionals are going to higher and lower income countries. Some go to higher income countries for better technology and higher salaries, but some will go to lower income countries to become open to different learning opportunities and advance healthcare.
  • What is meant by reverse innovation and explain how you could use the idea in healthcare administration?:
  • Deconstruction: Reverse innovation is a technique to allow innovations to occur in smaller, less developed markets before moving them to larger, highly developed markets.
  • Selection: Flows are multidirectional. Products will not be modified or developed in the West for emerging markets, they will be tested and developed in smaller markets first.
  • Sequencing: Develop products in smaller markets first, then move them to larger markets. Helps to understand what might be learned about health maintenance, health promotion, health care delivery, etc.
  • Stakes: Need to understand the effects in can have on healthcare administration. Do not overlook how ‘flattening’ can lead to unexpected value-creating possibilities.
  • What is your Enneagram personality type? Why should you be aware of your personality type?: My personality type is: Type 2 wing 1 (The Helper w/ The Reformer as a wing). I should be aware of this personality type because it helps me understand how I may appear in different social situations or when I’m stressed. If I understand how I react, I can control some emotions or responses that other people may perceive as negative.
  • What is your Enneagram spirit animal?: Dog!
  • What is 4-ways of Seeing? Demonstrate the technique with an understanding of personality types.: 4-Ways of Seeing includes: 1) how you see yourself, 2) how the adversary views himself, 3) how you view the adversary, 4) how the adversary views you
  • Different types of personalities can create conflict between coworkers, but if you examine how each personality type might view themselves as well as other people, it might help you to sympathize with them and get along with them better in the workplace.
  • What is String of Pearls?: String of Pearls is a part of the Red Team method to analyze plans/programs. It is used to look at possible consequences of actions or plans. The analysis can show how any possible problems that might occur within the analyzed plan.

  3. Great map! I also received the dog on the personality test. Your 4-ways of seeing example with the X and Y was great. I like the detail you put into all four ways. Relating the personality types in your examples was a great touch. It helps paint a better picture!
