How-To Videos: I still enjoy the How-to Videos and I really appreciate that they are shorter! I honestly wouldn’t know how to start the assignments without them!

Documents to Read & Videos to Watch:  think the videos are really helpful to understand concepts, and I will read the documents to help clarify certain things, but I can’t ever decide if most of my knowledge for these assignments should come from these documents or from the textbook.

Syllabus: I don’t use the syllabus very much anymore unless I need to revisit SWARM learning. It was helpful when the class started.

Textbook: I read the textbook chapters before completing each assignment and I learn quite a bit from the textbook but I don’t think it always applies to our assignments unless we are doing a concept map.

Audiobooks and Text to Speech: I don’t personally work well with audiobooks and text to speech. I like actually reading through certain things.

Plectica: I love Plectica, I still wish it had a few more aesthetic tools that I could use, but I have really enjoyed using it for my assignments!

Tableau: I do not use Tableau very much. I use it to check my grades, but with any of the assignments, I do not know what other data I should be using to create more dashboards. They are very complicated to create.

Rationaleonline.com: I like the idea of this but I still do not have a subscription because I do not know if it is something I will be using where I work. I like it for the amount of slides I get to use without a subscription.

Thinkquiry: I think this is a good program to look at, but I really only use it when it’s mentioned in How-To video. I have never created anything on there.

Complexity and Emergence: I understand complexity well and don’t have any issues with that. Emergence is still slightly confusing, but I understand the general concept!

Innovation and Organizational Learning: I think organizational learning is a really great method of learning!

OODA Loop: I think this cycle can be used efficiently to make decisions in the workplace. I haven’t used much of it after that one assignment.

Toulmin Method: The Toulmin Method is interesting. I liked using it because it helped deconstruct the argument in a simple way. I did get confused with exactly what to put down for the ‘Warrant’ portion.

Red Team Method: This method takes quite a bit longer than the Toulmin Method, but I like it because the questions go into more detail to help deconstruct the argument.

Double-Loop and Single-Loop Learning: I think I’ve seen loop learning in my work place after we learned about it. I think it can be useful and I will continue using it myself to gain feedback myself!

Professor Greg Bunch video: I liked the video by Greg Bunch because it explained what VUCA actually meant in a more applicable sense. Sometimes I find videos helpful when trying to actually figure out a concept.

Soldier vs. Scout Mindset: I really liked reading and watching this! I think I have more of a soldier mindset, in fact, I think most people do, so it’s interesting to look at someone you’re interacting with and try to figure out which mindset they use most.

Nominal Group Technique: I love techniques like this because they focus on getting everyone’s opinions and taking them all into account!

Delphi Technique: I think this one is important to use as well because it allows the use of expert opinions!

Context Analysis: Context analysis has always seemed like a fairly basic concept to me, but I liked learning about it again because it expanded my knowledge on it.

CM5: I always appreciate doing assignments that really work with the textbook and healthcare learning assignments. I liked this one!

CM6: I liked this one just a little more than CM5 because we had to deconstruct the types of teams and I felt like it really connected with administration healthcare.

EM7

  • Blog: I plan on writing a blog. I liked seeing other people’s examples!
  • Using student blogs to deconstruct an argument: Again, I really liked looking at student’s blogs so I can look for ideas when I am writing my own blog!
  • Videos provided to deconstruct: I really liked the videos! Trevor Noah’s was a little difficult to deconstruct because of the length, but I think it also made it a good challenge.
  • Spiral Method: I think I understand the spiral method. There’s a lot to it, but the assignments helped.
  • Logical Fallacies: I understand logical fallacies, but I wish we had more of a handout on them instead of solely an explanation. The explanation was helpful, but I would have liked to look back in my own notes/textbook to figure it out!
  • Thesis Generator: I liked this! I did find it strange how it put certain things together. It would combine my sentences in weird ways, but it would still give me a generalized statement to build off of!
  • Critical Thinking Handouts: I looked at these handouts, but they used examples from rationaleonline.com and I really only use Plectica!
  • BDK Method: I like that this breaks down how to spot logical fallacies, but I still wish we almost had a separate assignment on logical fallacies so I understood it better!

FM8: I appreciate you trying to get as much feedback as possible. I will say that these feedback maps do include a lot of questions and I tire out by the end of them!

Extra Credit: I like that you give us the opportunity to earn extra credit

Facebook Group: I will look at it every once in a while to see what’s going on, I don’t personally post anything but I like to learn from others!

Learning Community: I like the learning community, it’s a different way to post and examine assignments.

Connection with Experts: I enjoy that you are able to help with us connecting with experts, I think that is important in graduate school.

What are your expectations moving forward?: I expect us to be working on more concept maps, and continuing to read through the book, using video and document additional resources.

What would you like to see change?: I would like slightly more in depth explanation on smaller topics instead of really broad assignments covering several things. I understand that it may not be possible since we have a lot to cover!

What is one thing you love?: I love the use of the How-to videos, they are very helpful when working on the assignments.

What can the instructor do immediately to make the class better?: Clarify some of the topics a little bit more, relate them to healthcare administration.

What is a question the instructor should be asking, yet is not?: How can I relate these topics and concepts to healthcare?

  2. I agree with you on the videos as well. I find it hard to read from the textbook, and having a video presentation such as the one covering VUCA it really helps to understand what is actually being said. Great work Emma.
