Introduction

Hello,

My name is Laura. I am 25 years old and have been and RN for almost 2 years. I received my ADN from Dodge City Community College in 2018. Dodge City, KS was my home for over 20 years, but after passing my boards, I moved to Wichita, KS to start my career as an RN. I have worked nights on a pulmonary step-down unit since then. I currently am looking to transfer to the ED in hopes of gaining some valuable experience to potentially do some travel nursing. Eventually, I want to settle down and work as a NICU nurse, but I feel like I have a lot to learn before then.

On my free time, I enjoy traveling, watching movies,  foodie experiences, and being with friends/family. I am not married and do not have kids, so that makes y’all that have a marriage and kiddos on top of school and work to tend to my heroes. I look forward to getting to know y’all and good luck this semester!

    Welcome to the course, Laura!

How do you see research and evidence applied to support your current practice?

Hi Laura! I am a wife and mother of two boys and as much as I love them I envy your ability to be so versatile and have the options to travel. My advice to you is to travel and learn as much as you can while you’re young!

Laura, I am from the Western part of the state as well! I graduated from Seward back in 2018 as well. I love working ED, it is my passion but I am currently Ft on a Med/Surg floor due to chaning positions. I agree with others, learn all you can as I think traveling will be amazing but not a real option for me until my kids are older and out of the house Nice to “meet” you.
