Introduction – Duke Onkoba

My name is Duke Onkoba, I live in Kansas City. I am happily married with four kids and we are all avid Chiefs and Royals fans! This football season has been an extremely exciting time. I have worked in a variety of clinical and progressive leadership positions in healthcare for over 15 years. I am currently overseeing the clinical operations in a nonprofit skilled and rehabilitation community with 170 beds. I am very passionate about taking care or the elderly, quality improvement and technology.

Within the past 5 years we have incorporated several evidence-based practices into our workflows and care processes. We utilize resources from organizations like Leading Age, Great Plains Quality Innovation Network and PEAK (Promoting Excellent Alternatives in Kansas). We have seen tremendous progress in our efforts to improve the quality of life for our residents. This includes over 90% reduction of anti-psychotic medication use, pressure ulcer prevention, resident safety and staff retention.
I am very excited to finally complete the few classes I have left to get my BSN.
