Alvin Thompson is eager and determined to make a huge impact this year for the Fort Hays State University men’s basketball team. As he returns for his senior year, the 6’3’’ shooting guard looks to help his team win and stay highly motivated to accomplish his long-term goals.
“I want to make a better life for my family by providing and playing the game I love which is basketball”, said Alvin.
Alvin plans to also be a role model for other young basketball players in his hometown. He is a product from Missouri that dreams of being a positive influence for his community.
“My biggest motivation is where I live at which is Wellston, Missouri and it is a rough neighborhood. I was not sure that I would make it to my current age”, Alvin stated. His community is extremely important to him and plans to show that there is a better life rather than gangs and drugs.
Alvin chose basketball as his way out and has not looked back since. He has played the game since he was 9 years old and has always knew that he wanted to pursue a career in it. For Alvin basketball opened a lot of doors and opportunities for work in other places like modeling, motivational speaking, and community service.
Alvin is excited about having a season regarding the pandemic. “I was always confident that we were going to have a season and I thank God for that” stated Alvin. He plans to play professionally and is going to continue to work hard to make sure someday that happens.
